Halifax Opportunities Trust was established as a community-based regeneration Charity in Halifax West Yorkshire in the year 2000 to build on the strong foundations put in place by the Single Regeneration Budget Programme, the former West Central Halifax Partnership.

A Charity - Halifax Opportunities Trust is a Charity specialising in Regeneration activities.

A Social Enterprise - Halifax Opportunities Trust operates as a Social Enterprise.  This means that it functions in a business like way to achieve social objectives.  It also means that any surplus is reinvested in the business or in the community, rather than being distributed to shareholders.

A Development Trust - Halifax Opportunities Trust is a member of the Development Trusts Association.

Development Trusts (there are over 350 in the UK) share a commitment to being  community owned and led, to cultivating enterprise and to building assets in order to secure prosperity.
