Anne’s Zest for Life

Anne spent her working life within admin and Teaching however found herself unemployed after facing some health issues. Her confidence & self esteem suffered and she became more and more isolated over recent months. Anne was referred to our ESF/DWP funded Right Steps to Work programme for help with moving into employment.

After a discussion with our Key Worker Michelle, it was agreed that some volunteering would be beneficial for Anne as a starting point to help her increase her confidence levels. Anne had mentioned that she loved the creative teaching sessions she used to deliver and with this in mind, Michelle introduced her to the Staying Well team at Halifax Opportunities Trust.

Anne started volunteering within the creative art group delivered by the Staying Well project which works with local people living in isolation. Since starting, she has become a regular friendly face in the group and an important part of the team.
Alongside building valuable confidence levels of her own, Anne is also helping the service users build theirs. Already, Anne feels more ready to apply for vacancies and will continue to work with Michelle to source and apply for good quality positions, along with developing her personal action plan. Well done Anne!
