One of the more recent additions to our business community at Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre are green energy experts, Halifax Renewables.
The team behind Halifax Renewables are experienced and enthusiastic heating and plumbing experts, headed by Managing Director Steve Shimbles, with a commitment to environmental protection, sustainable living and energy efficiency. Their knowledge and expertise in the field of renewable energy means they can offer services to customers that not only save the planet, but save money too – something which is at the core of the Trust’s being. By teaching the members of our community both the importance of and techniques to reduce their monthly household bills and by providing a physical base for the technologies that can achieve this; we’re actively pursuing the Charity’s aims of reducing poverty in Central Halifax.
Halifax Renewables offer a range of energy saving solutions to clients across West Yorkshire including air and ground source heat pumps, solar technologies, and are looking to introduce biomass, hydro and wind turbine energy solutions in the near future. Some of these renewable energy technologies are eligible for the Government’s Feed-In Tariffs whereby energy suppliers have to make regular payments to householders and communities who generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources such as solar electricity panels or wind turbines. As an example, a typical domestic solar electricity system, with an installation size of 2.2 kWp could earn around:
- £770 per year from the Generation Tariff
- £30 per year from the Export Tariff
- £120 per year reduction in current electricity bills.
Giving a total saving of around £920 per year.
This assumes 50% of the electricity generated is exported. The figure will vary depending on how much is exported.
