Connecting Opportunities and Together Calderdale supported the Community Fun Fair held at Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre last week. They took part in the Stroke Awareness session/Blood pressure clinic and met with colleagues from the Healthy Living Team. There were 32 participants from the two programmes and they were able to access local health services, check their blood pressure and learn easy-to-do exercises from the Healthy Living Team. As a result of attending this event the Healthy Living Team took 13 self referrals for their weight management courses.
Connecting Opportunities works with new migrants to develop their skills and opportunities to find work and be part of the local community. Connecting Opportunities is funded by the Big Lottery and the European Social Fund as part of the Building Better Opportunities programme.
