Projects and Initiatives

The Halifax Opportunities Trust Employment Team has introduced a range of projects and initiatives to support  job seekers and help them move forward, overcome their barriers and get good quality jobs.

Many of these are centred around social and wellbeing activities that help to build confidence and establish the vital skills required in the world of employment. Our employment projects and initiatives include:

The Workshop

The workshop banner

A practical workshop providing opportunities for you to learn new skills, make new friends and build confidence & aspiration. A great way to build your CV, with work experience and character references, which enhances employability.

Takes place every Tuesday & Wednesday, 10am – 2pm

Eligibility: unemployed, 16+

Job Club

The Job Club at Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre supports jobseekers with the free use of computers for job searching, accessing online services and joining online training courses. All computers are fitted with webcams and headsets. There will be an Employment Advisor in attendance at all times, offering additional assistance.

Takes place every Friday 9:30 – 12:30pm

Eligibility: Unemployed with the right to work in the UK

Walking Group

This group aims to help Hopeful Families participants with their wellbeing and physical activity. Supervised walks each week, with the group deciding on where they would like to walk each week.

Numbers are strictly limited and booking essential.

Glad Rags Sewing Group

Weekly tutor-led sessions held at our Hanson Lane site. This group has been set-up to help you gain confidence, improve mental wellbeing and build your social network, all while learning the new skill of sewing and making beautiful creations.

Takes place every Wednesday 10am-12pm

Great Strides

Hopeful Families & Calder Community Squash present fun and friendly squash sessions for women. Join us for a twelve week course and try something different. Learn the basics, have fun, meet new people and feel great!

Takes Place Every Monday from 1pm- 2pm at Old Crossleyans, Savile Park. Beginning on the 16th of May.
