Are you from Halifax/Calderdale and unemployed, leaving school, currently looking for your next step? Whether seeking advice on a new career direction, further training, employment or simply want to learn more about the opportunities in the local area – the HOT Opportunities Event is for you!

The HOT Opportunities Event is a one stop shop for local people looking for support in their next step. Whether seeking careers advice, looking for learning opportunities, finding meaningful employment or sharing skills through volunteering, the event will guide you in the right direction and help to unlock the opportunities available to you right on your doorstep.

As a charity offering a broad range of services, Halifax Opportunities Trust (HOT) is in a unique position to be able to help people at most stages of their career, learning or employment journey. HOT has a great deal of experience in; helping people break down employability barriers, supporting learners with nationally recognised apprenticeship qualifications and building skills and experience through a range of volunteering opportunities. Something that the event will help to showcase.

The HOT Opportunities Event will take place at Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre, where a number of teams from the Trust will provide information about the opportunities available, in:

  • Employment at local organisations
  • Volunteering

Meet Local Employers

The event will also house an Employer Marketplace, set-up up to help you learn more about local organisations, the industries in which they operate and the career or learning opportunities they have available. A great way to meet potential employers in person and ask all those burning questions you have about the next step in your employment or learning journey.

The event is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the many areas of Halifax Opportunities Trust, our employment and development opportunities, as well as connect with local employers who are seeking candidates.

Halifax Opportunities Trust

Halifax Opportunities Trust employs over 180 people with jobs across all areas of our work from training and education to childcare and family support. We also have roles in core functions such as finance, marketing and administration.

Community Transport Calderdale is a local charity helping people with transport needs. Most of our clients are older people with low mobility or people with physical/learning difficulties.

The Piece Hall

The Piece Hall in Halifax, West Yorkshire re-opened on 1st August 2017 following a multi-million-pound transformation into a world-class heritage, trade, and cultural destination.  The last remaining building of its kind in the UK, this Grade I Listed Georgian cloth hall has won several national awards, hosted a Royal visit and attracted footfall of over 10.5 million. The central public square can hold up to 7,500 people at a time, and hosts year-round outdoor events, including film, music, performance, art, family and learning activities.

On the day the Piece Hall be providing information on current job vacancies, volunteering opportunities and casual events steward opportunities for Christmas.

Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. VSI Alliance

Formed in April 2018, Calderdale Voluntary Sector Infrastructure (VSI) Alliance is a partnership between six organisations, made up of four delivery providers (Forum, VAC, WYCAS & Locality) and two commissioning bodies (West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board & Calderdale Council), working together and sharing skills to benefit voluntary and community sector groups working in Calderdale.

What should I expect?
