Ok, so Ang is not technically a HOT colleague but she is a HOT Café Owner providing ‘hot’ food and drinks! Known for her trademark smile and distinctive laugh, Ang provides support as well as sustenance. Having qualified and always worked in catering, Ang caught the hospitality bug from her parents and loved the buzz of working in their student pub The Peel Hotel in Bradford. Having worked at The Alhambra and St Georges Hall as Catering Manager, Tiffney’s, and ran the Bradshaw Tavern, Ang set up Café No 5 in Sowerby Bridge and then set up another Café No 5 here at EWIC. Deciding to focus all of her efforts into the Café here at EWIC she sold the original café 12 years ago.
Ang has been happily married for 27 years to Husband Robert who is half Italian. Robert’s Mum Nicoletta inspires Ang’s Italian dishes and Ang’s Mum Jean provides Café No 5 with all of the delicious cakes. A keen baker, Jean especially loves making Victoria Sponge, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Yorkshire Ginger Parkin. Ang is proud Mum to George, 26 who is in his 3rd year of a degree in Social Work, and Ben, 25 who has just left ITV to be a Broadcaster for the English Football League.
Ang has been here 5 years and plans to retire still working at EWIC. “I just love the building, the lovely stone, and high ceilings but most of all I love the support. It’s really nice to have seen people along their journey and see them grow. It’s so nice to see customers get bigger and better and be successful.” When asked if she could turn the tables and have someone cook for her, which chef would she choose Ang has no hesitation in declaring her adoration for Raymond Blanc but admits that she might ask Gino D’Campo as “he would be a good laugh”.
