Salina’s Story

Halifax Opportunities Trust’s Apprenticeships service is valuable for many local people looking to take their next step on the career ladder. Whether starting out, changing career or progressing in a current role, apprenticeships are beneficial work-based qualifications that unlock learning journeys for all.

Specialising in providing high quality apprenticeships in the education and business sectors, HOT Learning has a deep knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and delivery of its Early Years, Teaching Assistant and Business Administration qualifications.

Salina recently completed her Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification at local school, Ravenshall School, through the HOT Leaning Apprenticeship team.

Building Confidence

Salina was very nervous when she started her Level 2 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, but found it very useful to help her grow in the role at Ravenshall school.

From gaining knowledge of the theory behind the role and the practices to implement when in a work-setting, to the skills she built through learning in a real classroom, Salina was able to grow both professionally and personally.

A network of support

Not only did Salina gain encouragement from her peers and employers, at her work-based setting, but she was given support and guidance from her Apprenticeship Tutor.  As a result of her commitment and determination Salina’s work-based skills progressed.

Salina’s progression and achievements have given her the confidence to progress onto her Level 3 qualification, which she is also undergoing with the HOT Apprenticeships Team.

The next step

Salina is very positive about her journey so far. Along with the progression onto her level three Apprenticeship, she has also grown in confidence throughout her learning, so far.

Salina’s workplace mentor commented:

We are really pleased that Salina has decided to move onto her level 3 as it is developing her as a confident teaching assistant and supporting her progress at the school

The Apprenticeship team adds:

Salina has been a delight to work with and a very attentive learner, I have seen Salina grow in confidence during her time on program and I know she will excel at the new standards. Level 3 will be a good challenge for Salina but I am confident she will do very well.

We would like to congratulate Salina in her professional development and we are looking forward to continue working with her.

Well done Salina -HOT Apprenticeship Team.
