Tenant Profile – This Is Rupert

Rupert Cooke, creative director of This Is Rupert

Our second tenant profile for 2021 is with the amazing Rupert Cooke who set up his own agency called This Is Rupert. The Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre is home to over 35 small and medium-sized businesses many of which have creative and digital backgrounds.

Can you tell us a bit more about your business?

I am a Creative Director with nearly 30 years of experience in the industry. Initially formed in 2015 and originally based at The Artworks in Halifax, I now share office space with my friend Chris. We can be found at Studio 39.

This is Rupert produce graphic design, photography, video and animation; working for clients like The Church of England and Rotary amongst others. We prefer to work with organisations, individuals and businesses who do good things for other people or who improve the world we live in, in some way or the other!

What was your background before starting your business?

Before starting my business, I was head of design for a large events business based in Leeds who specialised in the organisation and design of large scale events for the likes of Lloyds Banking Group, Talk Talk, BMW, Marks & Spencer and ASDA.

What drew you to choosing an office at Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre?

Having visited The Elsie Whiteley Centre for the launch of HebTroCo, I always aspired to have an office here. I really liked the feel of the place…It sort of feels quite creative somehow!

What are your big plans for 2022?

Our big plans for 2022 are to do more of the same. I have been building up a portfolio of photography, video and animation over the last 12 months and have invested in some great quality lenses and computer hardware.
