Raising funds for Halifax’s Winter Shelter

This year we have taken collections for Calderdale Refugee Action, linking with friends of St Augustine’s to take collections of Winter clothing and vital supplies to be delivered to refugees still residing in Calais.  The Clarke family are heading over to Calais in the coming weeks with a van filled with donated supplies, EWIC took in a huge amount and tenants, staff and visitors to the centre were more than happy to donate.

As well as being involved with Calderdale Refugee Action, staff from our finance team, Julie and Maria decided to get festive with a conscience asking staff, tenants and visitors from across HOT to get on their most festive Christmas jumpers on Friday 15th December (Save the Children’s International Christmas Jumper Day).

Julie and Maria are also holding a bake sale in the EWIC atrium as well as taking donations from people for wearing their Christmas jumper.  All funds raised will go to The Gathering Place’s Winter Shelter . The Winter Shelter is a place for those who would otherwise be on the street or sofa surfing to stay warm during the coldest months of January to March.

Staff from across Halifax Opportunities Trust will be taking part and we look forward to seeing what we raise for the Winter Shelter.  A huge thank you to all who have donated so far and also a special thank you to Julie and Maria for their fundraising efforts.
