Calderdale-based community charity, Halifax Opportunities Trust, is a finalist in the ‘Transforming Lives’ category
Local charity, Halifax Opportunities Trust (HOT), is delighted to be a finalist for a ‘Transforming Lives’ Locality Award. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 7th November 2023, at a ceremony held in Bristol.
The nomination comes in the Trust’s 21st year and the award commends community organisations for their work in making a significant impact on changing local people’s lives. Being a finalist for such an inspiring award is testament to HOT’s dedication to people, families and businesses in the local Calderdale community and its ongoing commitment to making positive change over the past 21 years.
Alison Haskins, CEO of HOT, comments: “Being recognised as a finalist for the Transforming Lives Award acknowledges all of our work within Park ward and beyond. We are a community-owned and run charity, and we’re passionate about creating opportunities so people’s lives are better; winning this prestigious award among other remarkable finalists would make us extremely proud – especially in our 21st year!”
The Locality Awards have been running since 2018. They recognise and celebrate the impact and innovation shown by local community organisations and charities across the country through five awards categories;

- Transforming Lives Award
- Bringing Communities Together Award
- Enterprising Organisation Award
- Keep It Local Award
The Locality awards are part of Locality Convention, the biggest annual community sector event. Delegates at Locality can connect with like-minded people, get inspired, gain insight, skills and ideas and influence the debate.
A number of HOT staff and trustees will attend the convention and awards where they will benefit from the many activities and thought-provoking conversations taking place at the event, as well as excitedly awaiting the announcement of Award winners. We’re keeping everything crossed that they bring back a trophy!
