Thursday 12th July: Children and parents involved with the Halifax Opportunities Trust Hopeful Families project came together for a celebration at The Artworks in Halifax. Children aged four to fourteen had completed a Find Your Thing! course organised by Healthy Minds’ young people’s activity project, Time Out. Over the twelve weeks, children worked with a range of local organisations to try sports, arts and outdoor activities, as well as exploring their emotional well-being.
The celebration event featured art work created by the children, photographs of the sessions and posters showing what they had learned (‘I’ve learned to be a great friend’). Each child was presented with a certificate and gift to take away. Kim Whymark, project worker for Time Out, said, ‘I loved seeing the young people grow in confidence. They joined in with all activities and really bonded as a group.”
Local providers who worked with the children include Cricket Asylum,The Artworks, Bricks4Kidz, Handmade Parade, Noisy Toys and Jubilee Children’s Centre.
