Rent Freeze at EWIC

The New Year is typically a time when consumers see prices rising – rail fares increase, energy prices go up – even Gregg’s have put up the price of a sausage roll. Here at Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre, we’re bucking the trend of inflation-busting increases by announcing a rent-freeze in 2019.

After considering the current business climate and economic forecasts post-Brexit, our board has taken the decision not to pass on the increasing costs of running the Centre to our tenants, giving them an element of certainty in an uncertain world. Operations Lead at EWIC, Jason Bell said: “It’s a testing time for small businesses right now and we wanted to thank our tenants for their loyalty by giving them the stability can certainty of a rent freeze for 2019.”

Elsie Whitley Innovation Centre is currently home to over 30 small and medium sized businesses operating in sectors as diverse as financial and legal services to film and design. Operated by local charity, Halifax Opportunities Trust, the Centre offers subsidised rental packages for new businesses and supports businesses to grow through flexible lease agreements.
